Chemical resistant
Dekro offers three main variants of chemical resistant paints
- Dekro Chlordek Enamel and Dekro Chlordek High Build, based on
Chlorinated Rubber
- Dekro Epoxy Enamel, based on Epoxy Resins
- Dekro Adthane Polyurethane Enamel (Urethane Acrylic)
In each case careful attention must be given to the preparation
of the surfaces.
The thickness of each coating is important in severe conditions.
It is also important to remember that in constantly corrosive conditions,
individual coats become contaminated if left for too long before
further coats are applied.
Heat resistant
Fluctuations in temperature impose more strain on the paint film
than lengthy exposure to steady temperatures. However the resistance
to moisture and chemical attacks diminishes after long exposure
to high temperatures.
Freeze resistant
Temperatures below 5º C prevail in most cold storage rooms.
The paint that is used should be able to withstand these temperatures
as well as resist water, ice, salts, fats, oils, blood and other
liquids. The paint should also be non-toxic and should not taint
food.
We recommend Dekro Hydrosilk for plaster surfaces and Dekro Chlordek
Chlorinated Rubber for all metals, wood, composition board, and
plaster.
Water resistant
Most paints are water resistant to a degree but specific water
resistance becomes imperative in certain situations - for example
the painting of swimming pools and drinking-water tanks.
If painting water tanks, the paint that is used must not taint
the water and should prevent rusting on the inside. Appearance is
not imperative in this case.
Fungus resistant
Fungus growth occurs in damp rooms and buildings such as lavatories,
basements, laundries, breweries and cellars. Fungi can remain dormant
for long periods under dry conditions but are activated when the
humidity rises above a certain level.
Prepare the surface by washing it down with Dekro Anti-Fungicide
Solution to destroy any spores on the surface.
Fill in all cracks and imperfections, sand till smooth and remove
all dust before starting to paint.
